Privacy policy

Effective 2026-09-01.

inspect.ZONE is a DNS reporting tool operated by MDDHosting LLC. It looks up a domain's public DNS records and shows how they are configured. This page explains what we collect and how we handle it.

What we collect

We use this only to run your report, to keep the service reliable, and to prevent abuse (rate limiting and, where enabled, an anti-bot challenge). The DNS data in a report is public information published by the domain's own nameservers.

Cookies

We use only functional cookies, never advertising or cross-site tracking cookies:

When the anti-abuse challenge is shown it is provided by Cloudflare Turnstile, which may set its own cookies to distinguish humans from bots and receives your IP address for that purpose. See its privacy policy. It is only loaded on the challenge page, never on ordinary report pages.

Your report-view preference (which of Issues, Summary, or Details you last used), your colour-scheme choice, and the "Recently checked" list on the home page are stored in your browser's local storage, not a cookie. They stay on your device, are never sent to the server, and are not shared with anyone else, including other people on the same network. Clearing your browser data, or the "Clear" link on the home page, removes them.

If you use the contact form, the name, email address and message you enter are emailed to the site operator and kept in the admin area so your message can be answered; they are used for nothing else.

If you use the feedback widget, the note you write is kept in the admin area (and emailed to the operator if they have set that up), along with the page you sent it from. An email address there is optional; give one only if you would like a reply.

How long we keep it

Request records are retained for up to 90 days for abuse prevention and aggregate statistics, then deleted. Cached reports are short-lived and overwritten as they are refreshed.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own use. The only third party involved is Cloudflare, and only when the anti-abuse challenge is enabled, acting as a processor for that challenge.

Your choices

You can use the tool without submitting anything personal beyond the request itself. Contact the site operator with any privacy question.

We may update this policy from time to time; the effective date above reflects the latest version.
